Chef Gio Ray Mangaya-ay
Chef Gio facilitates Global Academy’s bread and pastry programs, managing students in the kitchen and classroom as he does. This mild-mannered Chef is a stickler for excellence and hardwork, two aspects that he feels cannot go without the other. His stints at The Goose Station and Shine Bakery imbedded this principle which he shares with his students today.
“I feel that my job is fulfilling when I get to see my students shine in the classroom kitchen, and in their respective workplaces after. I deal with students from different backgrounds, age groups, personalities, and learning needs all in one classroom so making sure I try to get through all of them is a good challenge to have.”
After flying on their own wings, Chef Gio has this desire for his students, “I hope they always keep their feet on the ground and never lose sight of why they started this career in the first place. I hope the grit always stays with them.”
