Savory Category Champion for the Northern Titans - Katrina Del Rosario
Sometimes, keeping it simple is golden. This is what Maria Katrina “Kat” del Rosario, Superior Diploma in Cuisines and Modern Cooking (SDCM) Batch 34 student discovered in her 2019 Global Grit participation. Bagging the gold in the Savory competition against her peers in Global Academy Pasig was no simple feat for Kat. Focused and determined heads were put together here - she and her two chef instructors Melanie Rodriguez and Gigi Almeda.
Kat shares that familiarity with the dish and refining it practice after practice took weeks of dedicated work. Along the way, she says new learnings arose on top of the stock knowledge achieved during her classes at Global Academy. “With my Global Grit experience, I have learned that to execute my training efficiently, one should remain in focus amid the inevitable curve balls or distractions. I’ve also learned to multi-task and clean as I go. It is important that all the dishes of the components complement each other, and that they are all tasted prior to serving Also, I have come to believe that keeping it simple has value.
Global Grit was one the best moments in my culinary journey because I've learned a lot in a short span of time. Every experience is priceless.
